Review Detail
2015 Catlin Wines Sauvignon Blanc
Wine Rating
95
This wine is funky as all get out, yet retains class and elegance. A pretty hard thing to achieve.
As expected the wine was wild yeast fermented and aged in barrel on lees prior to release and extended bottle ageing.
A light yellow in terms of colour, the nose has piercing herbaceous notes with baked tropical fruits and lemon curd somewhere in the mix. The palate has a crunchy baseline of acidity that pulls through the herbaceous thread on the nose with a flintiness to citrus fruits and a leesy funkiness to finish.
It won’t be for everyone, but if you like them on the wild side you need to seek this out.
