Sauvignon Blanc November 27, 2017
2017 Eldridge Estate Fume Blanc
Wine Rating

Eldridge Estate is one of the oldest vineyards in the Mornington Peninsula, with David Lloyd producing an excellent array of wines from Burgundian varieties as well as this complex and unique representation of Sauvignon Blanc. The wine is labelled Fume Blanc, which is the giveaway that the wine was fermented and aged in oak, the 2017 vintage the saw 30% new French Oak.

A light yellow in the glass with a nose that showcases baked passionfruit with a gentle herbaceous edge. The palate enjoys the weight and depth that comes from barrel ferment and time on lees, but at the same time benefits from precise acidity that gives a textural contrast. There is a continuation of peppery passionfruit seen on the nose that is cut through by a lemony like note that leads to a long and mouth filling finish.

A delicious wine.
