Sauvignon Blanc July 09, 2019
2018 Terre a Terre Down to Earth Sauvignon Blanc
Wine Rating

92
Hand picked from the Crayers Vineyard, fermented in tank as well as large french oak founders and demi muids (25%). It was then aged on lees in tank for seven months.

Wrattonbury has a way with Sauviginon Blanc, but i think it is as much to do with the producer as the region. The wine has 13.5% alcohol which means it has a ripeness of tropical fruits that you would expect but the time in oak and on lees has helped to temper and accentuate tropical fruits with savoury nuance. The nose is varietal and driven by passionfruit and gooseberry aromatics. The palate has a fullness of mouthfeel but is set against a savoury backdrop with a grapefruit like grip and textured acidity. Passionfruit takes on a more subdued note with great depth to finish. It has the potential to reward some time in the bottle.
