Review Detail
2021 Wakins Pilot Wild Sauvignon Blanc
Wine Rating
89
There was certainly some technique that has gone into this wine with heavy pressings, wild ferment in barrel and some partial malolactic fermentation providing anything but a standard Sauvignon Blanc.
A slightly golden yellow in colour with grassy aromatics alongside citrus and passionfruit. There is a fullness of mouthfeel with tropical fruits enjoying the creamy aspect from partial malo; acidity has a lemon edge and builds structure and focus. There is textural grip to the finish that also takes on some grapefruit.
An interesting wine at a good price.
