Review Detail
2021 Driftwood Artifacts Fume Blanc
Wine Rating
92
You don't see a significant number of fume blanc's from Margaret River, and i'm not sure why as the punchy and herbaceous expressions of Sauvignon Blanc do well with time on lees and in barrel.
The nose has a touch of reductive funk that work amongst gooseberry and baked passionfruit; The palate has crunchy, herbaceous edged tropical fruits and a mineral line of acidity. There are some stone fruits when you look hard that give some richness and contrast the wines more savoury tones. A pull of grapefruit to finish with a touch of pepper, passionfruit and lemon pith.
