1999 Moss Wood Semillon
Wine Rating
89
I wasn’t confident about this wine when I looked at the state of the cork (the multiple pieces of cork), but to my surprise the cork gods had been kind and the wine was still holding after 17 years. A straw to golden yellow in the glass there is a developed nose of lanolin, clotted cream and understated yet mature stone fruits, the palate has fresh straw and fig with a touch of citrus following close behind.
The finish doesn’t reach any great heights, but an enjoyable drink that is best consumed over the next couple of years.
