Review Detail
2003 Nicholson River Semillon
Wine Rating
91
Well I never thought I would have an aged Semillon from Gippsland, in terms of aroma and flavour it isn't Hunter, it's not Barossa, it's not Margaret River, there is a unique point of difference with this wine, with few like it that i have tried.
The wine is a developed golden yellow in colour with the nose showing white peach, lanolin and some rounded oak input. The palate presents a soft and matured wine with smokey stone fruits and a decided vanillin lift. The finish lingers with initially soft fruits contrasted by a pleasing textural astringency and just enough acid to keep focus.
