An impressive bottle and packaging which fits the $200 price tag, what’s more important is the wine within is a spectacular rendition of the 2015 vintage with the concentration and earthy nuance you expect from top end d’Arenberg whilst enjoying amore floral disposition from inclusion of the Rhone trio (Marssane, Roussanne, Viognier)

A nose of plum and black olive that is lifted by old leather and is a firm nod to the wines of Northern Rhone. The palate is all about texture and a layered expression of dark berry fruits against fine, flowing tannins that have more of a charcuterie and bitter dark chocolate edge. There is a backdrop of acidity that will see the wine last for decades but is in balance with the fruit. There is a faint graphite note that joins dark berry fruits and a web of earth and leather to finish.

$200 is an expensive wine, however this is the most complete d’Arenberg wine i have enjoyed.
