Review Detail
2013 The Islander Bark Hut Road Cabernet Shiraz Viognier
Wine Rating
91
A French twist on an Australian classic of Cabernet Shiraz with the inclusion of Viognier, the wine is named after the Road on which Islander Estate Vineyard lies.
In terms of colour it’s a youthful red in the glass, with the nose being primary and rich giving plum and blackberry that are overlaid with some attractive meaty notes.
The palate is medium bodied and again highlights dense plum and sweeter blackberry fruits, the tannins are supple, rounded and well integrated, with oak adding generosity. There is a spicy and savoury twist on the mid to back palate with a purity of dark fruit to finish.
