2005 Yering Station Reserve Shiraz Viognier
Wine Rating

94
Shiraz Viognier is a variety that Yering Station has made their own, with only Clonakilla from Canberra having as much of an influence in the Australian wine market.

A deep red in colour with bricking red towards the rim starting to show the wines age. The nose is developed with generous plum, the trappings of new oak and characteristic floral lift that comes from the inclusion of Viognier, there is also the faintest touch of bay leaf that aids complexity.

Medium to full bodied, leathery plum fruit at the forefront, the palate is laced with white pepper and clove like spice. The finish is fully mature giving earthen plum and fully resolved tannins.
