Shiraz Blend March 11, 2015
2013 S.C. Pannell Syrah
Wine Rating

94
To say this wine is critically acclaimed is an understatement, a $35 wine from a consistently good producer that took out the 2014 Jimmy Watson trophy for the best 1 year old wine.

A blend of Shiraz and Viognier, with Viognier only making up 3% of the blend and giving an ever so slight floral lift on the nose that complements cool climate plum and subtle aniseed aromas.

A decidedly medium bodied wine, supple and silky, rhone like it has great texture that fills the mouth with plum, understated liquorice and gentle spice. Tannins are soft and rounded, with great balance to finish. This wine will be best over the short to medium term.
