Review Detail
2009 Murray Street Vineyards The Barossa
Wine Rating
94
The Barossa produced by Murray Street represents incredible value, the wine is a blend of Shiraz, Grenache, Mataro and Cinsaut, unique by Australian standards, but very Rhone in origin. The beauty of this wine is it’s ability to provide immediate enjoyment, but also support extended cellaring. At $25 a bottle, it should be a perennial Barossa purchase.
The nose combines briar red fruits with a touch of leather, oak gives a secondary vanillin lift. The palate has a great profile in the mouth, enough acid to keep the wine svelte, but savoury tannins and vanillin oak to give depth. The finish is decidedly dark fruited with plum and blackberry lingering.
