Review Detail
2008 Spinifex Indigene
Wine Rating
93
A blend of Shiraz, Mataro and Grenache this is a brooding beast that can easily live in the dark recesses of a cellar for many years. Spinifex are still one of the best kept secrets of the Barossa, their wines have real appeal and consistently represent what great Barossa fruit and considered winemaking can achieve.
The nose has a generosity of dark fruits with raisin and plum the standouts, oak provides a rich and supportive overlay with the caramel tones evident.
The palate is laden with spice, and drying dark berry fruits that are carried by a rich seam of oak that gives the counterpoint that supports the dark sullen fruits. The wine finishes with drying dark cherry and notes of old leather.
