2012 d’Arenberg Laughing Magpie Shiraz Viognier
(Updated: February 12, 2017)
Wine Rating
95
A blend of 93% Shiraz and 7% Viognier and hailing from the exceptional 2012 vintage this wine is opulent and moreish with great structure and a penchant for longevity in the cellar.
A deep dark red in the glass with floral notes to dark plum and charcuterie on the nose. The palate is curvaceous and generous with plush dark fruits and oak inputs before gaining a more savoury and earthen aspect through coffee and tar like tannin that melds well with intense dark fruits and the vibrant lift that comes from the inclusion of Viognier.
A wine of great contrast and interest. A bargain at $29.
