2007 Yering Station Shiraz Viognier
Wine Rating
93
An impenetrable red to purple colour in the glass, looking more like a wine that has just been bottled. The nose has great intensity of blackberry, violets and a hint of savoury earth. The palate shows pronounced intensity, with primary fruit characters of blackberry and plum still dominating, there are some secondary characteristics of spice and a hint of white pepper. The wine has exceptional structure and a fine, but persistant tannin structure, it finishes with savoury blackberry and needs a number of years to really reach it's peak with developed secondary characters biding their time before they flourish.
