1993 KWV Paarl Shiraz

I don’t profess to be an expert on South African Shiraz, but opened the KWV Paarl Shiraz and was pleasantly surprised given it’s age. The wine held a bright red hue with some slight bricking towards the rim, floral notes on the nose were backed by raisin, plum and leather.

The palate showed a medium bodied wine, acidity was still holding and there was an underlying smokey character, dusty tannins combined with dark fruits on the finish. A pleasant enough drink out of curiosity without any wow factor.
