2006 Greenstone Vineyard Heathcote Shiraz

You wouldn't pick it as Heathcote Shiraz - the nose is savoury and shows dusty dark berry and something that resembles tomato leaf. It is a nose that is somewhat atypical for the region, but one that i thoroughly enjoy.

The palate slowly unfurls to give structural blackberry and mulberry fruits with delicate oak derived spices. The tannins are savoury and mouth filling with layers of dark cocoa and a saturation of black fruits.

What i like most about this wine is the superb interplay between savoury layered dark fruits and quality oak.
