2007 Mitchell McNicol Shiraz
Wine Rating
93
Named after Andrew Mitchell’s father Peter McNicol Mitchell. Held back for more than 10 years prior to release. Great value at only $50.
A medium red hue that is slightly duller towards the rim, the nose gives earthen plum with a sweetness of spice and leather.
The palate has tremendous structure with drying, but grippy tannins that when coupled with the wines flowing acidity give great lines and texture for now, but also ensures another decade or more ahead in the cellar. There is a leathery aspect to integrated plum and blueberry, with a flintiness to the finish that adds dimension.
