2015 Octtava Grazioso Shiraz

The wine was produced from grapes planted in the 1880’s and matured in a high proportion of new French oak with a lavish decadence that comes from concentrated old vine fruit and the hedonistic impact of tight grain French oak. The wine has been held back in bottle for 3 years prior to release, a luxury that can only be afforded for some wines and it does pay dividends. The wine balances deep, generous plum fruit with vanillin spice, but time in bottle has given a more savoury earth and leather impact that gives dimension to the fruit. Tannins come in layers, but there is ample sweet fruit to balance; the finish has impressive length with dark fruits layered with spice and enough acidity to keep you coming back for another sip.
