2017 Gundog Estate Rare Game Shiraz
Wine Rating
95
The wine is produced from the Somerset Vineyards 1970’s platings and Tinkler’s Vineyard 48 block. Matt Burton has worked his magic with this wine, it is supple and approachable now but there is no doubt the best is yet to come.
The nose is darkly fruited with plum and dark cherry the most prominent, French oak gives richness and a sweet yet smokey note. Tannins envelope dark berry fruits with a gentle build of earth and old leather. The finish shows a savoury side with bitter dark chocolate to significant length of black fruits.
A wine with the quality to live up to it’s name.
