Review Detail
2011 Mollydooker The Boxer Shiraz
Wine Rating
88
The 2011 release shows youthful purple hues in the glass, the high proportion of new American Oak (60%) is evident on the nose giving sweet vanillin oak characters against a myriad of dark berry fruits.
The fruit on the palate is shaded by a sheath of oak, looking deeper there is blackberry fruit and coffee characters, with drying tannins that border on bitter dark cocoa.
The wine finishes with good length, but does give an indication as to the wines 15.5% alcohol.
