Review Detail
2012 Levantine Hill Syrah
Wine Rating
94
Yarra Valley Shiraz lends itself to adopting the more stylistic Syrah approach, with consistently good examples showcasing briny olive, dense dark fruits and oak as a secondary thought. The 2012 Levantine is in this mould.
The nose is seductive and rich with plum and olive benefiting from flashes of vanillin oak against old leather and violets. The plate is juicy and savoury edged with grainy tannins and fully integrated oak having presence and structure. The finish is layered with dark fruit, gentle spice and the faintest touch of white pepper. Excellent length.
