Review Detail
2014 Yarra Yering Underhill Shiraz
Wine Rating
96
The Underhill Shiraz is sourced from an 8 acre block that was planted in 1973, it’s a wine that has great cool climate aspects of white pepper and liquorice, but maintains a lightness of fruit and suppleness representative of a wine sourced from a warmer clime.
The beautifully assembled nose combines plum with liquorice, white pepper, touches of oak spice and leather. There is a fluidity on the palate with expressive dark fruits built upon a foundation of generous oak and spice, tannins add weight and presence that leads to a long fruit driven finish with perfectly balanced acidity accentuating length and drawing you for another sip.
