Review Detail
2015 D’Sas Heathcote Shiraz
Wine Rating
92
A dark but youthful red hue in the glass, there is a lot to like about this wine with a nose that combines floral plum aromatics with more briar, herbaceous and meaty notes.
The wine is decidedly medium bodied with a nervy, savoury core that allows richer dark cherry, blackberry and spiced french oak to give depth. The tannins are tightly bound but maintain a suppleness that creates contrast between more asphalt and earth like notes to finish.
Stylistically this is a very interesting wine, showcasing fruit and winemaking technique over big oak. It will cellar very well.
