Review Detail
2014 Levantine Hill Syrah
Wine Rating
96
The nose gives a heady mix of charcuterie, plum, and touches of peppercorn all within a beautiful envelope of aromatic french oak. The texture of this wine is something to behold with both fruit and winemaker derived inputs combining to produce a rather profound experience.
Ripe darks fruits present themselves against a more savoury, earthen backdrop with a silken texture that has richness but at the same time is paired back by a meaty, freshly tilled earth that is reminiscent of top flight Rhone.
The finish is showcases a supporting sheath of french oak and supple plum before a smokey, savoury edge helps to drive the long, immensely enjoyable finish.
