Review Detail
1991 Hanging Rock Heathcote Shiraz
Wine Rating
91
A small to Moderate crop as the vineyard continued its battle with salinity. It has held up well as it ticks over its 25th birthday.
The nose shows mocha / coffee oak undertones with plum fruit that shows some secondary aged notes.
There is generous up front fruit that falls away over the journey and is replaced with a more leathery note. The finish lacks the tannin and acid drive needed to lift this to the status of a great old wine.
An enjoyable drink that will hold without getting better over the shorter term.
