2009 Hanging Rock Heathcote Shiraz
Wine Rating

90
A year that will be etched into the memory of many in Victoria with a crecendo of drought and heat leading to severe bushfires. Not a great year for making wine, however the dry grown vineyard handled it well and produced a wine of only 13% alcohol and a yield of a little less than 1 tonne per acre.

Time has exaggerated the ripeness of the fruit on the nose and the primary fruit is dominated by oak input.

The palate shows more balance and complexity than the nose with concentrated dark fruit having balance, oak provides an interjection of spice rather than owning the experience.

The wine has the potential to hold for many years to come.
