Review Detail

Shiraz October 25, 2017
1999 Hanging Rock Heathcote Shiraz
Wine Rating

88
The wine is starting to show it’s age with some browning towards the rim, on the nose the fruit is starting to fade with a touch of volatile acidity.

The palate is savoury, leathery and lacks fruit. The mouthfeel is good in terms of tannin and acid structure and touches of dark chocolate that give contrast to more one dimensional, brambly plum fruit.

The wine will remain on a plateau for a few years yet, but won’t reach any great heights.
