Review Detail

Shiraz October 25, 2017
2000 Hanging Rock Heathcote Shiraz
Wine Rating

95
A low yielding vintage with only 8 tonne coming from 20 acres of vines, 16 acres of which were harvested for the first time. The wine was matured in steam bent American oak and is sitting pretty as it nears its 18th birthday.

It holds a deep dark colour in the glass with dark fruits benefiting from generous spice, earth and charcuterie notes on the nose.

The palate has definition of plum fruit with supple mouth filling tannin that enjoys gentle incursions of vanillin spice and undergrowth notes that give a point of difference on the long finish.

This wine is showing no signs of deterioration and can be cellared with confidence for the next few years.
