2001 Hanging Rock Heathcote Shiraz
Wine Rating

88
An anomaly in terms of yield with 40+ tonne of fruit coming from Athol's Paddock, representing over 2 tonne an acre when compared to typical yields being closer to 1.

The nose opens up with lashings of Christmas cake like spice with a touch of liquorice and kirsch.

The palate is shrouded in dominant oak with dark fruits playing second fiddle. In terms of texture and length the wine delivers an enjoyable experience but doesn’t have the varietal, regional definition and concentration of fruit that one would expect from the vineyard.
