Shiraz October 25, 2017
2008 Hanging Rock Heathcote Shiraz
Wine Rating

96
A meagre 10.7 Tonne was produced from the 20 acre Athol’s Paddock in 2008, it was a vintage that was hot and dry, but vineyards that were managed well produced some excellent wine.

A surprisingly floral nose that also enjoys the concentrated dark fruits that is the hallmark of Heathcote Shiraz from Athol’s Paddock. The palate has started to develop some secondary leather characteristics that accentuate dark plum and blackberry fruit that is then wrapped in a sheath of gentle spice.

The wine builds across the palate with a pinotesque peacocks tail of concentration and spice.

Drinking beautifully now and over the next decade.
