Review Detail
2015 Gartelmann Wilhelm Shiraz
(Updated: February 27, 2018)
Wine Rating
87
The nose is decidedly smokey and earthen with some blackberry and plum fruit in the mix. The palate has a sweet and sour thing going on with the fruit that gets a lick of new oak and then whack of tannin that is hard to fully appreciate. The mid palate lacks depth of fruit before a drying, savoury tannin structure takes hold and and some enjoyable spicy notes make themselves known. It will be interesting to see where this wine goes with time.
