2016 Z Wines Poole Shiraz
Wine Rating

97
The bar has been set high by Z wines with their Single Vineyard Series. The Poole release is sourced from 60 year old vines and sees 60% new oak and is undoubtedly a top end example of Barossa.

Plum, blackberry and a touch of kirsh with touches of leather, baking spice and violets on the nose.

Like any great Barossa there is an understated elegance that shrouds a wine that is much more substantial and builds in stature. There is a sea of dark berry fruits and a finely structured array of tannins that give balance. The mid palate sees the inclusion of more savoury soy and earthen notes which are a beautiful accompaniment.

The finish is generous but has a sultry, almost saline note that joins seamlessly with dark fruits and layers of spice.
