Review Detail
2016 Z Wines Hein Shiraz
Wine Rating
96
Sourced from 140 year old vines in Langmeil with only 720 bottles produced. It’s not often you get the chance to taste a wine produced from vines planted by the forefathers of Australian wine.
Inky dark red to purple with a lifted nose of plum alongside milk chocolate and a touch of fresh earth and graphite.
This wine defines the term ’iron fist in a velvet glove’ unfurling with layers of dark berry fruits that are interwoven with fine tannins and spiced oak nuances. There is tar and fresh coffee providing a backdrop to concentrated dark berry fruits on the mid palate before the finish glistenes with briar and blackberry, oak adds finesse and class to finish.
Prodigious length and a privilege to drink.
