Review Detail
2016 Fox in the Hen House Sparkling Shiraz
Wine Rating
88
Sparkling Shiraz, the curiosity that the rest of the world either loves or hates. This is a good example the variety in terms of value, at a tick over $15 it will have many fans.
An Inky dark red with a full but coarse bead in the glass, the nose is full of stewed plum and blackberry fruits with some kirsch liquor and richer port like notes.
The wine has a concentration of dark berry fruits with course tannin but the impact of residual sugar and some nice brandy dosage give plenty of enjoyment. There is a touch of alcohol warmth to finish.
