2017 Byron & Harold The Companions Shiraz
Wine Rating

95
This is Great Southern Shiraz with all of the trimmings; decadence is an understatement with the unmistakable svelte impact of new French oak melding with plum and blackberry fruit that has a cinnamon edge and some charcuterie tones.

Layers of spice and milk chocolate wrap themselves around plum fruit that tends to blackberry across the journey; there is a delicate leather edge that provides another side to the wine. The finish is long and generous.

Given the high level of oak and the 2017 vintage not showing quite as much concentration as other years this will be best over the next decade.
