Review Detail

2017 d’Arenberg The Footbolt Shiraz
Wine Rating

88
This is always a solid release, and in some years tends to excellent. The 2017 is more on the solid side of the fence with the wine being varietal and representative of the region and the maker but the cooler 2017 vintage giving the wine a leaner disposition than in other years.

The wines an Inky dark red in the glass with a nose of plum, blackberry and pencil shavings; There is an initial generosity of fruit with plum and ripe blackberry that gets pushed along by a plushness of oak. The finish sees touches of briar and red cherry with a greenness to the wine.
