Review Detail
2018 Gundog Estate Marksman Shiraz
Wine Rating
96
The Marksman Shiraz represents the best Shiraz produced during vintage from Canberra District, it’s a consistent performer and at $60 a bottle still delivers very good value in the premium end of town.
The oak melds beautifully with dark plum and cherry fruit on the nose with floral tones and some savoury nuance.
The palate is medium bodied and has flowing dark berry fruits with a subtle wave of white pepper and the floral youthful aspects of the nose a consistent thread. The finish has elegance and concentration in the same breath, oak gives a svelteness now but the fruit is what will see this wine singing in a decade.
