Review Detail
2018 Gundog Estate Smoking Barrel Shiraz
Wine Rating
93
The wine is a blend of Hunter Valley and Canberra District fruit, and gives a vibrant red in the glass with a nose that shows savoury flare with sage and clove lifted by sweeter spice and plum.
The hunter component gives an earthen backdrop and grainy, fine and drying tannins . The fruit is precise and concentrated with blackberry and plum before clove like spice and a sheath of vanillin richness to finish. Will cellar well over the next decade.
