2017 J&J Rivers Lane Shiraz
Wine Rating

88
The nose opens a touch reductive before revealing black cherry and plum with some bramble and gentle oak impact. The wine is medium to full bodied and there is a a sage and bay leaf like undercurrent to drying black fruits that take on bitter dark cocoa and liquorice on the mid palate. There is a nice textural interplay between savoury edged fruit and drying tannin to finish. 2017 may well be a sleeper given the cooler year and less opulent impact it provided to much of the wines produced from South Eastern Australia.
