Review Detail
2016 Heartland Spice Traders Shiraz
Wine Rating
92
Once again we are in ‘back up the truck’ territory. At a retail of $17, it is hard to imagine a better value full bodied red that showcases generous but varietal fruit and the additive effect of oak and clever winemaking.
There is a sweetness to plum and red cherry on the nose that is dusted with baking spice and coarser vanillin tones. The tannins are what define this wine with a mocha and coffee grind edge that gives wonderful contrast to fuller dark berry fruits and the generous vanillin lift. The finish has savoury impact but lingers with plum.
