Review Detail
2017 Sidewood Mappinga Shiraz
Wine Rating
96
Rhone meets the Adelaide Hills; the wine is defined by its old world savoury structure that is beautifully contrasted by dark fruits and pepper from quality cool climate fruit and a generous but balanced lift from new French oak. Ripe plum is layered with earth and spice with a touch of old leather on the palate; there is a suppleness afforded by the oak but a drive from compact tannins and precise acidity that gives such length and dimension to finish. Will be sure to reward time.
