2019 Sidewood Ironstone Barrels The Old China Hand Syrah
Wine Rating

96
On the nose plum and blackberry fruit is set against crushed herbs; beautifully integrated oak gives richness without overt spice that is complemented by a gentle earthen influence.

The wine is medium to full bodied, and builds effortlessly with plum and dark cherry taking on some aniseed notes. A weave of spice provides contrast to drying but supple tannin, fine lines of acidity give focus now and underwrite a great future in the cellar. The finish is etched with sage and earth alongside expansive dark fruits.

An excellent wine.
