2009 Mr Riggs 'The Gaffer' Shiraz
Wine Rating
89
Impenetrable red to purple in the glass, a typical example of McLaren Vale through and through. The nose has dense savoury blackberry and a hint of menthol. The palate has excellent depth and is tightly bound around dark fruits. The tannin structure is formidable with some slightly forward acidity towards the finish and smokey oak characters. The only complaint would be a lack of complexity in the mid to back palate, however given time in the cellar this will surely flourish.
