2008 Dee Ess Shiraz (Standish Wine Co)
Wine Rating
95
A colour that resembles black more than red in the glass. The nose shows all that is wonderful from the Barossa, concentrated plum and blackberry with a gamey complexity.
The palate has tremendous concentration, however it is balanced with wonderful acidity. There is satsuma plum, spicy dark cherry and a hint of blackberry, the oak integration is magnificent and provides richness and class to the wine. The tannins are fine but firm adding to the contrasts between tannin, acid and fruit.
The finish has great persistence and racy acidity that doesn't overpower the fruit , leaving you with the thought this will easily go 10 years in the cellar. A wonderful wine.
