Sparkling wine production is nothing new for Coldstream Hills, with creation of bubbles in place since 1995, this particular release is a traditional Pinot Noir Chardonnay blend that comes from the Deer Farm Vineyard in Gladysdale, a site that produced excellent Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
The quality of the fruit and winemaking is on full show here, the nose has oyster shell, citrus and a touch of brioche. The palate has a lovely fine bead with mineral acid and citrus drive being complemented by just enough autolysis richness to add a creaminess to the palate.
The finish has very good length, with this wine to reward short to medium term cellaring.
