Macedon XV as the roman numerals suggest is the fifteenth release of the Macedon sparkling. This is a labour of love and there is significant care, cost and skill that goes into crafting the wine.

The blend is made up of base wines from 1987 through to 2008, with each of the base wines stored for at least 4 years on gross lees before the blend is assembled and then aged on bottle lees for a further 3 years. It is worth noting that Hanging rock also produced an late disgorged (LD) wine that is produced using similar technique but is left on bottle lees for 15 years !

A lightly golden yellow in the glass, wth a fine, velvety bead that can only be achieved with extended bottle ageing. The nose is gives funky brioche and aldehyde notes to white peach and background citrus.

The palate is wonderfully complex and has a melange of stone fruits and the same lees complexity that gives richness and character to what is a very special sparkling. There is ample acidity, citrus fruits to stop the wine from being cloying, but this is an overarchingly decadent wine that will grab you attention.
