2011 Stockman's Ridge Storm Sparkling
Wine Rating

92
Attentive winemaking and the rewards of time has produced an exciting release from Stockman's Ridge, the wine has energy and elegance and is sure to cellar. The wine is a blend of 98% Chardonnay and 2% Pinot Meunier that was aged on lees for 5 years lees before disgorgement and further ageing in bottle.

A light yellow in the glass with a beautifully fine bead that comes from time on lees, the nose enjoys subtle flint and oyster shell autolysis notes with meyer lemon and just ripe nectarine. The palate is framed by citrus fruits and green apple with background notes of ash crusted goats cheese and a continuation of mealy richness seen on the nose. There is a tug of grapefruit to finish, the length is significant.
