Review Detail
2014 Levantine Hill Sparkling Rose
Wine Rating
96
There is no expense spared when it comes to Levantine Hill, and most importantly this translates into what is provided in bottle. This sparkling rose was produced in minuscule quantities, the base wine is 100% Pinot Noir and the wine was matured for 11 months in French oak before being held on yeast lees for a number of years prior to disgorgement.
There is a burnt orange hue to the wine in the glass with a fine bead, the nose is all about Pinot Noir with wild strawberry enjoying touches of mushroom and faint brioche tones. The palate has a taut and textural baseline of citrus that melds with cherry and strawberry fruits. There is a mineral and almost saline note on the mid palate before the wine continues on the melange of red berry fruits to finish. A wonderfull example of Yarra Valley Sparkling.
