Review Detail
2012 Domaine Asmara Viognier
Wine Rating
92
The more Viognier i try from Heathcote, the more i think the variety is suited to the Shiraz dominant region.
The 2012 Viognier from Domaine Asmara is a golden yellow in colour with a nose of fresh and dried apricot, with a touch of vanilla and musk stick.
The palate is dominated by apricot, however it is the textural components that set this wine apart. Initially there is soft apricot and peach that then gives way to a more savoury dried apricot character, balancing the primary fruit sweetness.
The wine has excellent length, and just enough acid to keep focus on the finish.
